Kayaking Pics My Pics
the kiasu phenomenon

kiasuism is everything but simple...so are humans...or maybe these 'things' aren't human at all....for they take kiasuism to a whole new level...

there's the normal kiasuism that everyone is born with...Innate kiasuism it is...where we take an extra plastic bag or plate "just in case" or if we go 30mins early for some event just so the crowd wouldn't be too over-whelming...

then there's the scholarly kiasuism that students THINK THEY NEED to possess in order to survive better in sch...this includes taking down everything the teacher says. eg " so in this case F=ma where m is the mass and a is 9.81, oh it's such a hot day, why isn't the air con working? ok for qn 2..." get what i mean? they copy EVERYTHING

then there's the godly level of kiasuism, which has been given a more earth-bound name... aunty kiasuism. come on, who can outwit outlive and out-kiasu an aunty? this form of profound behavior extends to the actions and thinking of "have just take" and "dunno what also take" and finally "EVERYTHING JUST TAKE". it's a whole new level altogether! but surprisingly, this phenomenon has evolved into young adults, esp in tertiary institutions.

eg. lab session on gaussian...we're trying to determine the coordinates of the atoms in a water molecule if we imagine it to be in cartesian axes...so 9 coordinates, 3 each, for 2 hydrogens and 1 oxygen

den we get to see the same for benzene, C6H6...so 12 atoms means 36 coordinates

some BRAINS copy ALL of them and TAKE PICS of the short movie clips of the vibrational modes...30 to be exact...brains of singapore i tell u...and chemistry brains at that, sad to say...omg...

secretly, i want to burn them with a acetylene flame...u know e kind used for welding?? maybe then, can i make a hole in their skull for some life-giving oxygen to reach their brains in hope of restoring normal brain activity. it can't be that i'm the only one noticing this...luckily for me, i have found some common souls!

and oh yes...SHAME ON YOU! those act smart ppl who shrink and try SO DAMN HARD to dissolve into the background when the lab assistant asks them a question...

must be karma that i'm stuck with such ppl all the time...now i'm starting to like my lab neighbour from last sem...she's still in my group but a bit too quiet. at least not godly in a weird manner...
